The TGU PhD in Business Administration Program successfully held The Research Colloquium (2026)

Organised in collaboration with the Turkish-German University (TGU), Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Hochschule Bielefeld – HSBI) and Bielefeld University, the “Research Colloquium” for PhD students was successfully held on 26–27 March 2026 at the Turkish-German University campus. Supported by the DAAD, this event enabled students on the Ph.D. in Business Administration programme to expand their international academic networks and gain insight into university-industry collaboration models.

The first day of the program began with an opening session held in the Conference Hall of the School of Foreign Languages. In the first session, Prof. Dr Rıza Öztürk from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Prof. Dr Hermann Jahnke from Bielefeld University, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr Elif Nuroğlu, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr Semih Emre Çekin, Dr Stefan Bildhauer, Coordinator of International Relations at K-TGU, and Assoc. Prof. Dr Zaur Gasimov, Coordinator of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, delivered the opening speeches. Subsequently, sessions were held addressing current academic trends in the fields of “Marketing”, “Management” and “Operations Research”. During the third session, held as a poster session, PhD students shared their scientific work with participants and exchanged ideas in an interactive setting. In the thematic workshops held during the final session of the first day, senior academic staff met with young researchers to answer their questions regarding research. 

During the first session of the program's second day, Prof. Dr. Tobias Schäfers and Dr. Nilgün Dağlar-Sezer each gave a presentation on international funding strategies and financial support instruments for research activities. In addition, a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Hermann Jahnke from Bielefeld University featured Burkhardt Hellemann from the German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK), Prof. Dr. Christoph Weisser from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Meltem Bayraktar from Dijitalpark Technopark, and Şafak Kibar from Nobilia. The panel focused particularly on the importance of the industry PhD program, discussing the transfer of academic knowledge to industry and the strategic advantages this model offers to stakeholders.
